Boogie
One of my favorite past times at the beach is boogie boarding, or body boarding. The waves are perfectly continuous for boarding in June. If you don't mind overcast show up in the morning about 11am.
However. My favorite time is 2pm, most of not all of the tourists have left to do other things. Like feed the kids. Lol or nap. I find that it feels warmer and is sunny with less windy after 2pm ish.
If staying at Carlsbad inn, you can check out body boards, chairs and umbrellas. Also sand toys for the little ones (at heart).
Dont bring food to the beach your stuff is usually safe. Just go up and eat and come back.
Remember taco Tues for 2$ each at el Nortes. They have carne asada. Shrimp, mahimahi, chicken etc.. yum. And you do not have to leave the grounds of the resort.
